Add photos
If some photos were added without a location first, then re-added from a DCIM zip that keeps GPS, tap this to keep only the located copy of each (the other is hidden, not deleted).

or tap to choose from Files. Pick individual photos/videos or a .zip of them. Photos keep their date/GPS; videos file by date (fix the day in the dialog). Big videos over ~90MB are skipped with a note.
ANDROID · GPS: to keep photo locations, build the .zip from the phone's file storage / DCIM (e.g. ZArchiver) and upload that — do not share out of Google Photos (it strips GPS). Capture date survives either way.
Place on the map
Drag a photo's pin to place it exactly on the map. Each pin starts at its day's stop; drop it where the photo was taken and it's saved.
